The people behind Himalayan Flora

Bhuwan has led Himalayan Flora as President and CEO since 2017. His work starts in the village and ends in the market. He brings farmers together, helps them get seed, fertiliser, tools and irrigation, and arranges packing material and transport so their produce reaches local, state and national buyers.

Before this he was CEO of JMDS FPO in Chakrata Block, Dehradun, and spent over fifteen years in Delhi in publishing and in sales and marketing.

Mukesh founded Himalayan Flora in 2009 and has served as its Secretary since. He works with the Jaunsari and Bhotiya tribes of Uttarakhand on herbs such as sea buckthorn, badri tulsi and kutki, and on natural, organic orchards of kiwi, apple, pear and pomegranate, connecting their produce to national and international markets.

He is best known for water work. In 2010, with the Agriculture Department, Gopeshwar, he led a rain water system at Maithana: 5,000 trenches, 500 recharge pits and three kachhe talab. As a NABARD master trainer he reached 525 villages in Chamoli and 500 in Rudraprayag. He also trains NGOs and agencies in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on forming FPOs and FFPOs, and is empanelled with NCDC as a freelance trainer.
